Vital Signs
Catalytic Worship – Worship is a holy moment, a time and place where the divine encounters the human and the human encounters the divine. In worship we encounter the changeless, eternal God and in God’s presence we are transformed and become more of who God created us to be. Passionate Spirituality – Growth is normative for the follower of Jesus Christ. We want to be known as people with “hearts on fire for God” and are committed to engaging in beliefs, practices and experiences that move us toward a deeper love for God and one another.
Loving Relationships – Relationships matter! Therefore, we must expend our energy engaging in the right things. Jesus summarized the law of God with these words: “Love God and love people” - for nothing else really matters.
Purposeful Community – God has formed us into a purposeful community and as such we have the opportunity to participate in the mission of God of seeing men and women, boys and girls be reconciled to God and to one another.
Need-Based Evangelism – The good news of Jesus Christ has implications for every dimension of a person’s life. Jesus’ gospel includes good news to the poor, release to the prisoners, sight to the blind, release to the oppressed, and the proclamation of the year of the Lord’s Favor. It goes far beyond the “minimum standards one must fulfill to get to heaven when you die.” God calls us to find needs in people’s lives and to fulfill them in ways consistent with the gospel of Jesus.
Gift Oriented Ministry – God has uniquely hard-wired each person with natural abilities, passions, and spiritual gifts. The work of God is best accomplished when God’s people serve in their areas of giftedness as it honors the One who created us, benefits others, and brings a sense of joy and fulfillment to those serve.
Empowering Leadership - Leadership is a ministry whose primary responsibility is to mobilize the people of God to accomplish the work of God. Leaders empower others by recognizing that they are first of all followers of Jesus Christ, the One who came not to be served but to serve others, and modeling their leadership upon His example.
Functional Structures - The Church is the living Body of Christ. Like all healthy organisms, it requires numerous systems which work together to fulfill its intended purpose. The structures we create will be appropriate to our particular context, have the growth of the individual and our community of faith in mind, and will be permission-giving in nature. We are committed to regular evaluation to determine if our structures continue to be the best way to accomplish our intended purposes.
